He’d never noticed before
but since he was locked in
he looked up from his crimped
back yard
and saw it, the patch of blue
as a curtain of fleecy clouds parted:
cornflower blue, aqua blue
and later towards evening
a majestic midnight blue
& he looked up over the days
and week that followed,
noticing the interchanges:
teal blue, robin’s egg blue
& his favourite, denim blue
the colour of the stone-washed
jeans he wore as a young man
when he strode the byways
of the world, a king, & the sky
stayed denim all week
💙 my favorite color. Love this.

thanks; blue, the colour of hope 🙂

I love how this pulled me in. The thought of something previously taken to be inconsequential opening up a whole new realm of thoughts and remembrances when finally really noticed. Very well done! Thanks!

actually it surprised me when the poem got to where it did; I did not see the stone-washed jeans coming or its links 🙂

That makes it even more wonderful when the invention intrudes into reality in such an unexpected and good way. 🙂

Great tie-in of staying in, memories, and the description of the sky. I felt like I could see it.

thanks, the last two lines came as I was winding down the poem, and I knew it tied things together beautifully; I have always liked denim 🙂
