The rash on my back
has dimmed:
angry red
to demure blush.
I wish I never
had thrush
in my left nostril —
in that cramped cave
hard for the air
to get through
but the meds kept
the wolf at bay,
subdued.
Almost out of the woods
like Red Riding Hood.
Well thatβs an interesting take on Old Red.

sorry, Eden — if I had known …. I once did a long prose poem on red, and most of the images admittedly were negative; I’ll have to do something to redress that π that’s a project for me to work on π

John! Apology unnecessary. To feel disturbed is as valid an emotion as feeling pleasure. Your words are powerful in that way.

thank you, Eden; that’s a lovely comment; and you’re right: if your words don’t move someone, they are impotent

If as a poet my work doesn’t stir some form of emotion I’m wasting my time…..might as well go down the pub ….

Don, that is a terrific comment: I think the thing we poets fear is what stand-up comedians fear: the silence at the end of a delivery ! and you don’t need to go to the pub: your poems get a reaction π

My comment about any poetry holds…..a basic requirement is the it elicits an emotion……if not it is wasted …..it just turns into a newspaper read….

Nose thrush, what a pain. Hope he cleared out all the brush so little red wouldnβt complain.

Like this very much even if it challenged my English to the limit. But I think it was worse for you having a bird (according to google translate) in your nose!

good old Google ! no, it’s a discharge which when it hardens forms a partial blockage in the nostril. A bird would be much worse. A bird flew in my mouth once but that’s another poem π

Puh! I was really concerned and my imagination was running wild trying to picture a bird in a nose.π Looking forward to the bird in mouth poem.
