I like to read calm sentences, she says.
No ugly exclamation marks that bully and harass.
No question marks that interrogate.
No dots or dashes.
Nothing jittery or jagged
Calm.
Calm sentences.
Placid as a billabong.
Soothing as slumber,
Pachelbel’s canon.
Placid as a billabong, docile as Dauphy.
A big shot that Pachelbel feller.
And no exclamation marks, shhh.

‘docile as Dauphy’ — that’s a great line; thanks Hobbo 🙂

Billabong, don’t drink it. May be calm but quite contaminated. It’s always the silent types. 😉

good advice; love that last sentence: you could construct quite a sinister little story on that premise 🙂

I honestly had to look up what a billabong was (cause I know you weren’t talking about swim/surfer clothing line 😁). Yes, definitely would quench my thirst from one, nor hang around one (imagining the mosquito breeding ground). Otherwise it’s a very calm setting. 🙂

we used to drive past one regularly: always soothing to look at, but must admit: never got up close and personal 🙂

I kind of like the suspense and mystery of an ellipsis myself…

I’m very fond of ellipses, of leaving out the superfluous when so much can be inferred ; I think this can be done without narrative becoming ‘jittery’ or ‘jagged’; perhaps it’s a case of one man’s meat …..

I could do with some exclamation free pachabellabong myself right now.
