Those rosemary & garlic sausages
we bought
to ‘beef up’ the barbie
in case the eye fillets weren’t enough
were beginning
to stink out the fridge:
‘the beasts revenge’ ;
so when we took them to your place and you declared
your barbie was ‘lamb intolerant’
we hit a snag
so when I said, I’m going to have to put them in your fridge
I thought you would say,
my fridge is ‘lamb intolerant’
but you never did;
in spite of those setbacks
we had a pretty good evening
though when we left we forgot to take home
the snags
so we hope you enjoy them
in one form or another
and no, we do not need them back
The parable of a lost lamb
who missed the barbecue.
Poetic rosemary and garlic,
this serving is verily biblical 😇

The snag snag experienced even by SNAGs. 😉

Haha; in my flurry to find puns I came up with the weak one: ‘snag’ meaning ‘hitch’ but you came up with the better 🙂 thanks

I wasn’t sure if it was a deliberate pun or not. 🙂

What a waste. There’s a black dog here who thinks so anyway!

If I could have found an easy way for Dauphy to have then, Hobbo, I would have taken it; I suspect they”ll be thrown out even though they have two German Sheperds; but maybe they’re lamb intolerant too 🙂

I’m sure you enjoyed the barbie anyway!

Well I’ll be snagged…..bit puzzled John…the lamb intolerant I get but nowhere does it say the sausages were lamb?,,…..just ‘rosemary and garlic’…is that a breed of lamb?……I’m not too up with lamb husbandry I’m afraid…..

🙂 the sausages were lamb sausages , Don; though I didn’t say that ; apparently according to our friends all sausages contain lamb and their WHOLE HORSE , Don, is lamb intolerant; what can one do ?

I can understand how their horse (the whole of it) is lamb intolerant. Priscilla, FCS cat, also. Won’t touch it. as to all sausages containing lamb I don’t know, but came across an the the other day…..

I agree with the grill. Lamb should not be eaten! Cute name for the grill, Barbie. I guess it was a “hot” toy in the past.

agreed Ulle; I eat lamb very sparingly; as for ‘barbie’ , it’s a shortened form of ‘barbecue’ ; it’s an Aussie term; I think Americans use the phrase ‘cook out’ —

As far as I know, most Americans know the barbie reference for Oz’s backyard grill; probably due in no small part to the restaurant franchise “Outback.” We do use the term ‘cook out’ to mean we will use the outside grill to prepare food. We also use the term barbecue or barbeque or the abbreviation BBQ. And we have a whole culture built up around “barbecue” with various locations claiming the best, from Kansas City to Carolina.
No less bastion of history and culture than The Smithsonian has weighed in on American barbecue:
