I had my big guns ready.
The script already rehearsed in my head.
There were some epithets to let fly.
Rebuttals for any diffidence.
I was asking my mercurial mate a favour
one he might bridle at
though I had both barrels loaded
‘after all I’d done for you….’
the rifle was cocked and ready.
I was Chuck Norris, Vin Diesel, Dirty Harry
rolled into one.
When I got him on the phone
and asked, he rolled over like a cat.
I was a little disappointed.
😂😂. Been there! I have definitely been there. All that adrenaline has to fizzle down to gracious appreciation. It’s when adrenaline tastes a little bit sour.

That anticipation is so often worse than the reality. Well captured John.

spot om, Hobbo; it was a relief — and a bit of a letdown 🙂

I agree with hobbo – sometimes you expect the worst and are surprised. other times, you are totally caught off guard and unprepared.

hahah, Don’t you hate it when you’re geared up for a fight and … nothing?
All that energy you have to put toward something else now. 😀

Very well put. I use that a lot when the other side of the barrel. Roll over and play dead, doing a pudel.

I haven’t played dead for a long time, Ulle; now it’s probably time to pull that old trick again 🙂

Makes me think of the song “9 Crimes” by Damien Rice–what do you do when your gun is loaded and then unfired? Love the rehearsal elements in your piece.

don’t know that one, K , but will look it up; yes, I was well rehearsed and if he turns Mr. Mean again , I’ll know exactly what to say 🙂

And you all pumped up and prepped, too! So frustrating!

true, Matthew; however if he mercurially metamorphoses into Mr. Mean my guns will be fully loaded and my finger trigger happy 🙂

you’re dead right; that’s what we creatives can do; no matter how harrowing the experience — and mine wasn’t particularly harrowing — it can always be transmuted into a painting, poem, song ….
