When you were gone
when it finally sank in
you had left
for good
it was too late
to make amends.
I wept
& shook
that long night —
& was cleansed.
When you were gone
when it finally sank in
you had left
for good
it was too late
to make amends.
I wept
& shook
that long night —
& was cleansed.
It is truly unfortunate to have one pass away while on bad terms.

This is really beautiful and heart-breaking John. Grief like that is so painful. But then the last line gives hope. A wound washed clean.

Baptism trough tears. I love how you play with parables like Jesus. I think most people experience loss can relate to the cleansing of salt water from the eyes.

thank you, Ulle; I love parables, and I think a cleansing through extreme grief is a form of baptism —

This is beautiful. A flow of emotions.
Yes often, we must release them to feel pure and light again. No shame in this. It is pious.
Lovely writing, John. π

So many forms of grief and heartbreak, John, but ALWAYS hope for cleansing if our minds are wired properly to allow the light and love to enter!
This post is succinct yet so meaningful like so many of your posts! π€
