a poem with vim and vigor
I like a poem with its hand
firmly on the trigger
Love a poem low and lusty
a poem that readily scans
the sort of poem that you hear
at a poetry slam

Lol … what a brilliant, funny comparison 🙂 yes, ‘witty’ is certainly up there; the saddest thing is those poets who deliver in a sotto voce voice; a good poem has the right to be heard !!! poets take note 🙂 ‘sotto voce’ is for lovers, not poets 🙂

I love a whooping crowd but haven’t quite got there yet: laughter, I get laughter for my funny poems so that’s half way there 🙂

Poetry slams are outside of my 76 years of experience. That was a term and event form I missed.
What I love about quality poetry is it doesn’t mince any words going straight to the heart or the funny bone. It mines deep crevices in the human heart and sometimes even feeds the soul.
