I like that my head is empty
in the morning,
an airy spacious room,
a palace of equanimity,
not filled with the barnstorming
clatter of morning TV

Yep, the pigeons on there do an awfully lot of squawking. π

I thought they were the ideal image of the clatter which was a misprint because originally it was ‘clutter’ but I thought ‘clatter’ is much more suitable π

This is the perfect poem for me today. The kids had a snow day, so I got to stay home. In the morning, I sipped my coffee, and looking out my kitchen window at the silent falling snow: no TV and no noise. There is something special about that. Well done John!

my favorite time of day is the early morning, before the noise of the day

The emptiness gives way to so many possibilities. I love the quietness of the morning. Love this poem. π

the poem surprised me with its calm; I think it’s better for being brief —

Agree, its brevity almost feels like a nod to the quiet before the chaos of the day.

I find that morning TV is disruptive; I like to sit down with my thoughts and let them speak to me π btw I wanted to leave a comment on your recent post but there was no space provided–

Quiet mornings are so blissful. I agree, John. I don’t watch TV anyways. π

I don’t mind watching TV in the evening and occasionally on a Sunday afternoon but the mornings are quiet, meditative times —
