A Dog’s Purpose

Each morning the little shih-tzu takes

his snowy-haired owner

for a walk.

They wind through the back streets and lanes

to the school oval

and back.

It is a long walk with constant stops.

He knows it like the back

of his paw.

But what if one day

he forgets too…?

  1. At first glance this is just a memorable poem, but then later review shows how it could be saddening indeed. (“ALzheimers”). Ah, if only we could lie a little in all poems, as with all aspects of life, and make them a little happier. But then art wouldn’t be art.
