You look like a man who could wear pink, she said,
handing me the mask along with the compliment.
I have never thought of myself as a man who could wear pink
but the dental assistant thought so too
though in her T-shirt and jeans and muscly arms festooned
with inky blue tatts of scaly winged dragons she wasn’t wearing
an iota of pink.
She looked indie, edgy like I wanted to look but I was the man
who wore pink.
I wore it all the way to the car park then bravely wore it
in the nearby shopping centre where Pink was playing
over the P.A system.
Was that a sign?
Then went home with it still on.
The next day I put on a blue mask but I did wear
my mauve short-sleeved shirt when I went out.
Does that count?
you’re dipping your toe in and on your way. baby steps

I think I’ve told you in a previous blog post you can definitely wear pink, and of course, colour has no gender! I want one of those pink masks, not seen one here!

really? that’s surprising; blue and pink are the most common colors here in Oz —

Our masks are baby blue, white, or black mainly.

Pink is always classy on a man, even more so than a woman. I love the logic flow and how your lines take us on a journey outwardly and then inwardly. Was so happy to have my children be gender surprises at birth. No pink and blue, all lovely greens and yellows, purples and such. A gift, really.

thanks K; what a brilliant idea ! you’re bringing them up well; I did a visual survey at the mall: almost everyone — including women — were wearing blue masks ! what’s that about?

Oh, you havenβt heard if the blue ask cult? Replacing the blue man group, I believe. π

Your dental assistant sounds scary! Stick to pink socks, that’s edgy enough at a certain age. π

I tend to favour masks with a “Pirate” motif!

Great one, skin tone decides if you look good in pink, noting else.
