God must love larrikins.
He calls them home early
to be with Him.
Warnie, of course. the King of Spin
and some years earlier,
The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin.
No one saw that coming.
Least of all, him.
A stingray!
A creature from the black lagoon!
Too soon. Too soon. Taken.
And Paul Walker, my favourite,
who taught me to live
fast and furious.
God took him too.
But the dictators and tyrants
are allowed to linger,
grow putrid..
If only He loved them a little more.

What a nice mix of sad, sweet, funny, and vindictive. π

I had to look up larrikin and now it all fits. sad, true and a bit of dark humor mixed in with a question to the universe. well done

thanks, Beth; ‘larrikin’, I should have realized, is an Aussie word — but it fits, it fits π

Ha! I had to look of Larrikins. Made me think of Bushwangers. How do they rank? I know, let’s grow a dictatorial fan club, shall we? See if we can get them moved up the list. π

Lol. a brilliant idea; Beth too had to look up ‘larrikins’; it’s such a part of our language that we tend to forget it’s Aussie; I see even auto correct is not happy with it π I had to look up ‘bushwangers’ but couldn’t find it π¦

Oh, I am indeed tired. I meant Bushranger-Bushranger β highwayman, outlaw, no?

yes, I knew that one; Ned Kelly and all that mob: Captain Moonlite …. have a good sleep, K; look for fresh stuff in the morning π

I’m still mourning Warnie. He was my idol growing up. Taken far too soon.

thanks Kate; if you get given a line like that, you know you’ve got to do something with it; God bless the larrikins –and will auto correct stop underlining the word !!
LikeLiked by 2 people
Haha damn that auto correct and yes you are right – when God gives you a line you simply have to use it – itβs finding a pen or something when you get the line at an inopportune time that is the problem

I got up in the middle of the night, Kate, and slammed the lines down; polished them up over a cup of coffee and Jaffa Cake in the morning before I posted π

Jaffa cake sounds good.

I must do a post, an ode, to them one day; I’ve done an ode, a post, on Jelly Cakes but not Jaffa Cakes; check them out on your supermarket shelf in the International aisle —

Paul Walker doesn’t quite fit, not being an Aussie but he was a larrikin ; God bless the larrikins: may they flourish and escape the clutches of a greedy god π

Yeah, can’t say I know much about Paul Walker (other than his tragic death) having never seen his films, but Steve and Shane are simply legendary larrikins π€π€π€

Yes, God takes those early whom he loves the most. I’ve never warmed up to this concept. I thought God was neutral. Well written. Can feel the underlying emotions. π
