I’m on my own again.
My partner’s hit the sack.
The cat’s snuggled up in her basket.
Tiffany’s asleep in the tank, light out.
Even the mozzies have called it a day..
There’s nothing on TV.
Perhaps someone will text. Someone …
Is this what it’s going to be like?
Not sure what mozzies are but is it okay I’m a bit jealous of the speaker’s tranquility? I love those moments when there is silence.

thanks K: I should learn to appreciate them more; only some times they give rise to an anxious lucidity ; the mozzies as we call them down under are mosquitoes π

Oh, they sleep down under? How lovely. Don’t think they bother on this side of the globe.

the mozzies of the mind are the ones you have to watch out for π

Like K, I feel relief and gratitude when the chicken has stopped squeaking, the dog has put itself to bed, the kids have stopped coming out of their bedrooms with last minute questions, and I can just sit with my writing and a hot cocoa beside me. My chair hugs me and I feel my shoulders relax. My nights are my most reliable writing time. Do you ever write at night.

beautifully expressed, Worms. No, I suppose I don’t. MY mind is most active, sharp during the day and subsides at night. Mostly it is peaceful, prostrate but occasionally it muses about the future — and I get a little morose like mum used to. I’ve written a sharp little poem about this which I’ll put up tomorrow —

i love the calm and quiet times, one reason i love the early mornings so much, the world is still asleep and i have time to quietly greet the day

I did actually, a peaceful sleep; I was amazed when I woke up: felt like going outside and kicking the footy π but settled for breakfast instead π

I think the alone ‘me time’ should be nice. Or is that just my introverted nature speaking on its quiet behalf. Hang in there, John. π

thanks Terveen; occasionally only I think such thoughts in the deep, deep nigh; usually I just go happily to sleep π

I generally like these alone moments. But, yes, it can at time be too alone.

yes, Bob; it’s silly, I know, but sometimes you feel ‘abandoned’ — I just wanted to express that —
