I barfed off and on last night

but my heart wasn’t in it.

If you are going to barf —

‘barf’ is a much nicer word than ‘vomit’ –

you’ve got to be committed,

not lackadaisical

like the time I went to the doctor

for anti-depressants and was refused

because ‘you are not depressed enough’.

I can’t give myself wholeheartedly

to anything, it seems.

‘Except your writing’,

my ex told me.

‘Except your writing’.

    • 🙂 I’m doing good, thanks Beth; I respect my ex but I do think she could be a little harsh in her judgments; still, it’s like they say: it’s all in the yes of the beholder :)I keep my depression in check through mild medication and regular gym work 🙂

  1. Puke with passion. I’m learning so much from you, dear friend. I shall never half-heartedly hurl again. This was hilarious, John. Just what I needed. What a gift for us to enjoy your one true commitment. I

  2. This just made me shake my head and laugh. I love how you bring the spirit of commitment to its knees before making it bounce back with a vengeance. The ex can never tire of the y’s. haha! Great idea and writing. 🙂

  3. While I love jokes, and publish quite a few, I hate the one-liner that says, “To the guy who stole my antidepressants – I hope you’re happy.” The wife has been on antidepressants for years, and I’ve never seen her,‘Happy.’ 😯
    Best of luck 😀
