I’ve failed.
I got my sea slug poem
but not the one about yr cataract
how when it was removed
& the dressings came off
you went out into the world
like Mary Oliver did
amazed at all you saw.
going Wow! Wow!
yr little expostulations of beauty.
I know that feeling. You captured it just right.

thanks; it’s not often you write a poem about not writing a poem —

it sure is; every poem Mary Oliver wrote, it was like she had a cataract operation and was seeing for the first time —

it’s a funny thing, Bob but I’ve never come across a poem about cataract surgery; you’d think with such a visually enhancing procedure, there’s be a host of poems; strange ?

I agree. Anyone who I know who’s had the surgery comes out of it with the elated brand new world feeling.

Eyes are the windows to one’s soul. Let’s keep them clean and clear for viewing both ways. Nice one, John. š
