This world — we’ll never see the end of it.
So much beauty, above and below.
And just when you thought you’d seen it all,
up pops the Photographic Exhibition on Sea Slugs.
Slugs! The very name invites disdain, derision.
But these are something else: an artificer’s folly,
a frolic of design and colour, of quirky geometries
and improbable beauty — and there are 3000 varieties!
What practical use, what purpose, if not to delight?
Later I trawled through the depths of the web and emerged
staggering, reeling ; & that strange word, ‘nudibranch’

Nature is incredible. What purpose except to delight? I love that idea, great post John

they’re my favorite lines too, Bob; I’m working on putting this poem to song: it may not work out but I got the first two verses so I’m on my way; if all goes well, it’ll be up tomorrow; thanks for the feedback, Bob ๐

Good heavens John you are a nudibrach hunter? Plumbing the depths with a net. Dangerous work. I’m glad your gills are not naked….

So typical of humans. Wishing to contain other living beings while they can’t even contain their own nonsense. A bit extreme? But a good writing idea. ๐

indeed; well said, Terveen; and, yes, a good writing idea; perhaps one of us will pick it up ๐

We should look at the world through our inner child, then we will see the wonders of the world again and again. Seems that you are well connected to your inner child.

much appreciated , Worms: I had to slip ‘nudibranch’ in somewhere; I would like to have fitted it in the body of the poem but couldn’t quite do it —

Oh, I love the word “nudibranch.” I’ve always been captivated by the idea there are still unexplored places and unknown creatures. It simply confirms the truthโmagic is real!
