just played it, Ed: amazing, majestic, guitar speaking in tongues π is that Jeff Beck from the Yardbirds? never knew guitar could sing so eloquently except, perhaps, Eric Clapton’t ‘Layla’
I never knew about Jeff Beck’s post Yardbirds’ life; it would’ve been as good, I imagine, as hearing Pavarotti sing it; is there an English language version, I wonder ?Surely not: it just wouldn’t work —
thanks Eden; beautifully expressed; thanks to our friend Ed for the clip; just did a Wiki search: no, there is NO English language version of Nessun Dorma.
Wow, John. I don’t know if I listened to the same version as you but I sure enjoyed it anyway. I do love that piece of music. This is some more Pavarotti – another opera song I love. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J7JM0tGgRY
Nessun Dorma – one of my favorites. Try this version on for size: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMa8nCSCLUs

I’m so carried away by Pavarotti that I’ve never bothered to look up the words; they would be superfluous anyway π

I agree. I don’t always need to know the words. Often it’s just the melody that I listen to.

yes, that’s it, Bob — the melody; and we all love instrumentals π

Jeff Beck’s wailing guitar is a language all its own. It’s achingly beautiful. π

I can’t say I ‘knew’ Hobbo; but I remember reading his comments on your posts. Always seemed to be witty and good-natured.
