Without My Eyes.
I’m going out today
without my eyes
seeing without hunting
for an image to click
to post on my blog.
I’m going out today,
fresh, unprepared,
no clunky phone in my top pocket,
without my camera eyes,
just to see and hold,
and like the kind fisherman,
then release.
John I love this. In the earlier days of my blog I was always thinking through the eye of a camera, the eyes of a writer. To do so is to be in broadcast mode though, rather than in receiving mode. You said it better. Good one 😊🌅

thank you; I wrote this poem in less than a minute but it had been brewing inside me for days; I left my camera eyes home then went for that walk — AND saw Three things I could have snapped and posted 😦

Oh no! It’s always when we haven’t got a camera handy that it happens!

always good to take a break and just enjoy the moment as you see it and let it go

Love this one, John. It’s both liberating and rather beautiful. I love the end, comparing it to the fisherman releasing the catch. Beautiful.

thanks so much, Worms; I have seen fishermen from river banks and jetties do this; the image has stayed with me —

I love this, John. When I “come to my senses” and get to the woods, mountains, streams, and rivers (my happy places) I just capture it all in my soul.

I have to now; did you read my little suite of poems about my newly diagnosed condition? ‘Things I’ve Heard About It’ on Feb 3 sums it up 🙂

I’ll have to check it out, John. I’m sorry for any challenges you are facing my friend. 🙏🏻

John, I read and responded. I’m supporting you through prayer, good vibes, wishes, shared strength, grit,…whatever it takes my friend. I’m still in shock too. I understand. I really do. 🙏🏻💪🏻

So important, John! To look without wanting to hold. Lovely!

that’s why taking a notebook with you on your journeys is a double – edged sword: you’re prepared if a poem comes but see less freely because of it —

I wish we all would do this more often. Actually see and appreciate. A nice reminder, John. 🙂
