As, a now heavier, and now older submariner, myself; I am very familiar with the story of the Kursk. You must have been going “Flank” speed to lose your goggles. I’m impressed by your prowess.

thank you; I’m very impressive over one lap š also impressed you are an old mariner; you must have some tales — not as melodramatic or tragic as the Kursk hopefully —

I had to look up the story of the Kursk. That’s quite an overwhelming feeling.

yes, I wondered how well known the story of the Kursk is; it was back in 2000 but received huge coverage for a few days; Putin was not happy; I did wonder if referencing the incident, esp as the main metaphor, would lessen the readership; we’ll see ; thanks Bob š

it sounds a bit lewd now that I read it back). it’s from the classic sub movie, ‘run silent, run deep.’

š no, you’re fine, Beth; just looked it up: 1958, starring Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster in glorious black and white; one of the few action films from that period I missed; thanks for the reference š

When the water seeps into the goggles, frustrating! I love swimming but goggle dilemmas are maddening. Now I have to go and look up the Kursk. š« š

I’m impressed you’re doing that; if I like a post and there’s a reference I don’t understand, I look it up; you learn something new — and that’s always a bonus š

Putin was not a happy boy; if you ever ‘bump into’ him, don’t mention the Kursk š

When I get into water, which is one every few years, it’s always Wow! Why don’t I do this more! And then I go to the deep end and scare myself kursky.
