Sunset.
Fascist yellow
sun,
barking mad,
see how the sea breezes run
from you,
your rabid red breath
stoking
the ovens
of night;
four days of heat
ahead.
No mercy expected.

The Sun is 93,000,000 miles from Earth, if memory serves me right. Despite that incredible distance, there would be no life on Earth without the Sun. The Sun rules!

totally agree, Neil; I’m a sun lover; it’s just that after four days things can seem a little … apocalyptic : it’s the drama queen in me, Neil 🙂

Love the lunacy of this sunset, John. Terrific images throughout. Stay cool my friend.

yes, the term ‘Fascist sun’ jumped into my head; I had never used the word ‘Fascist’ in any of my writing; so I ran loose with it 🙂

thanks, yes; I hammered the metaphor a bit but you can’t just bring in a startling metaphor without justifying it —

Oh no! Don’t make the sun political too! 😂 It’ll be the end of us! Very striking image though… that fascist sun!!! Makes me shrink into my sandals.

we’re into it now — but al least it’s not bushfires, earthquakes or floods, those other pangs of disruption that nature throws at us 🙂
