The Wave and the Whale

My anger lies in me

it claws at my entrails

my anger is huge

heavy as a whale

I let my anger go

wave it along

calm descends, my heart

now a billabong

the haiku lunges

out of the dark ocean of text

its flanks be-jeweled

 

by sun, the way

a whale lunges out of the water

in Oban Bay
