Zips.
Couldn’t help noticing
the chairs
me & Ross chat on
Sundays
have zips in ‘em.
How cool would it be, I thought,
if we came with zips —
we come with a button —
then they wouldn’t have to cut us open
during surgery:
all they’d have to do is unzip us
and go in.
Why wasn’t a zip included
in our blueprint?
What if it broke and you couldn’t do it up again? Have to be satisfied with the belly button John. Did Adam have one?

good question, Brian; and good point ; just a whimsical flibbertigibbet, Brian: I chuckled when I wrote it 🙂

I love this word flibbertigibbit John, Mum used to say it all the time and I’ve never heard anyone else use it (except me) so lovely to see it in a piece of writing.

I love these funny old words, Kate: I get a lexicographic thrill whenever I get a chance to use them 🙂

Googling lexicographic…

haha; it’s the first time I’ve used lexicographic; I checked the spelling first; sometimes I create poems just to ‘showcase’ the odd word 🙂

bad engineering by our makers. it reminds me of the roadrunner cartoons, when his nemesis Wylie coyote would get blown up or injured, he would just zip out of his fur/skin and be good to go

what a fun comment; thanks Beth 🙂 those early cartoons were wildly inventive —

Fun one, John. I’m not sure if those chairs are supposed to be sexy or not. Zips on lips would also be handy, though. I’m thinking maybe at some point people could graduate to buttons.

Lol; your comment is fun too; I’m still chuckling 🙂

There must have been a reason … oh because zips hadn’t been invented yet – humans did that!

hahaha; good answer, Kate 🙂

whew: I felt I was going round and round in circles with this one, Kate — but perhaps that was its intent: how circular thinking can get and it’s hard to know when — and WHERE — to stop

Perhaps let it spin – all good rides leave us a little giddy and a poem is no different John 😊

that’s a great way of putting it, Kate 🙂

HI John, I did wonder about that when I delivered my children. Both were Cesear deliveries and I also thought how convenient a zip would be.

thanks Roberta and welcome back; it was just an idle thought; like my ex said in ‘Mice in the Fridge’ about my mind: it’s a free-for-all in there 🙂

You never know, maybe in the future that will be an option. Seems pretty sci-fi though. Would, like you said, make surgery a lot easier.

What fun chairs! How easy it would be to change their colors and fabrics.

Buttons over zips any day! Or maybe drawstrings or velcro. Definitely room for improvement in our design!

yes, a little more thought could have gone into our design 🙂

Imagine! We could trade our coverings in when they got old and shabby. 🙂 A fun poem.

This is a good question John. I could do with fewer scars if zips existed!
