Some people can’t get over
their arachnophobia
but say that I’m far sillier :
I have arachnophilia .
Red-backs and huntsmen
and daddy-long-legs
I just love to visit
in grandad’s shed
while the backyard becomes
a construction site
where spiders build webs
on hot summer nights .
They are hard to love, but I love their handiwork. Delicately crafted like your poems John.

Hahaha excellent pun and no excuse required. I’m not sure John, I have observed them since a child – particularly the wild ones put in the paddock. I feel sad when I wreck their traps, obviously erected with a lot of work, across the road or a track in the morning.

I feel that way too: if I see a spider in the house — a rare occurrence — i lift it carefully on some paper and deposit it in the garden —

I’m glad I’m not the only one John. Insects are here so briefly.

Hi John, I saw your comment on Sally’s blog about my new book. If you email me at sirchoc@outlook.com I will gladly send you a PDF or epub copy of the book. Also, I see you have 5 published poetry books. Are they on Amazon? I usually purchase books for there.

I must have arachnophilia too! I love their industrious artistry. As a kid, I used to feed them by putting a fly in their web. They were so smart, would only come out for a live fly, which was harder to catch, but not impossible.

Enjoyed this little rhyming poem. I’d consider myself part of the arachnophile club. Love their webs with the morning dew glistening like chandeliers.

I’m not afraid of spiders.
However, I did get bitten by one in my bed, while I slept.
I woke up with flaccid paralysis in three fingers of the right hand. The doc found an almost invisible dot on my thumb mound. Said it was a spider bite. He gave me a cortisone cream. 10 days to regain full feeling and usability of the three fingers.
Thanks John!

Love this, John. I once saw one of the biggest and most beautiful spider web on someone’s porch. The sheer talent of something so small and how they do their masterpieces unseen.

Can’t beat a spider’s web in the early morning covered in dew. Spiders are alright.

John, this is brilliant! You “spun” it perfectly! You know how to weave your words–you’re the best thing on the web, my friend!
Charlotte’s Web is one of my all-time favorite books. I was in nature the day you posted this, and took a picture of a spider web. Although spiders give me chills, they fascinate me. I pray you are well, dear friend. I think of you daily! And pray!
