Who has written these poems ?
I say
as I browse through the pages
of this commonplace book.
I have neglected to name their authors.
There’s one about
Tennessee Fainting Goats
which calls to mind
my ‘Cows in a Paddock’ ;
another about women in a junkshop staring through a window
at the rain
‘where a taxi as yellow as a forsythia
is turning a corner’,
and a snippet about snow over Xmas and New Year
hanging around long after
‘like the drunk at the bar
who needs to go home’
Hmmmm.
Could any of these be mine?
But the one about the fortune cookie is Ed’s.
It’s got his mark all over it.
But the others? I just don’t know.
Could I be that good?
I don’t think so.
I think you might be,

This question often arises in every writer’s mind. Did I actually create that? Just feel the pride and smile, John. 🙂

they’re lovely poems written in a style that really appeals; the moral for me is when I copy down a poem from a blog — which is where these poems came from — I must also write down the poet’s name 🙂

thanks Karla but unless my memory fails me completely they are from posts I really loved from 2020; the one I could have written is the goats poem because it is so much like my ‘cows in a paddock’ 🙂 but thanks for the compliment: they are lovely poems 🙂

I’m not that good, Chris; the three poems I quoted — and Ed’s poem I didn’t quote — are quite exceptional: accessible and eloquent, like we’d all like to be 🙂

You could most certainly be that good. I can see getting to a point where you’ve written so many poems, you’re not sure which or yours or not. Actually, feels that way already, friend. 😂

I do, indeed. That’s so wonderful to hear. That rant poem definitely speaks to why I write. Thank you, John.💜

I need to check, I have memory like a clown fish. 😀 But it makes me so happy and proud. Thank you

Very funny… Please I wanna learn how to create good poems like you… I don’t mind the tutorial.. Happy Sunday

thanks Kaycee; I don;t do tutorials any more, even for money. MY best advice is read widely, poems that challenge you a little, read two or three a day, then find your own voice —

But I don’t find the right words for telling stories.. I never convey stories well… I need a lot of brush up..

okay. I will comment on what you write, giving you clues; meanwhile keep reading my posts; most have been published previously so they’re a good guide and they’re short 🙂

I think the one about the snow being like a drunk at the bar might’ve been Michael Jordahl. It rings a bell.
