I did not know the way to the waterfall
I was beaten,
hollowed out,
lonely as the last leaf on a tree
tramping, tramping
when suddenly my phone leapt
in my top pocket;
it was my grand-daughters,
their voices
tripping over each other with excitement,
telling me
they were coming to Adelaide,
that I would see them soon,
and suddenly
I was there, refreshed in the waterfall
of their voices,
like a baptism

When I hear the bubbly voices of my family members on the phone it reminds me how thirsty I’ve been. Can’t wait to hear them all together again, the best waterfall, and just take them all in.

Agreed. They cheer me in my worst moments. They also peck me like chickens, but it doesn’t hurt too bad.

Lol; they can be little rascals as much as darlings π they provide the rhyme to the free verse of life π

That they do. Lovely, John. We had real discussion at dinner this evening about the earth and how it was 75% water. It’s like they’re becoming people with opinions right before my eyes. π

when i find myself drowning, I ask my daughter for a hug. Of course, she declines. Then I fake cry and she hugs and kisses me and my world feels the right side up.
