Fork.
There’s something special about a small wooden fork.
Small, slender, artisanal.
Things just taste better with them.
Apple and cinnamon muffins, for one.
Strawberry shortcake.
And this explosion of a pavlova my daughter made,
the slice I’ve just eaten,
mango and whipped yoghurt
which gave this poem its prod.
Really creative to write a poem out of a simple object like a wooden fork. Personally I prefer the steel ones. But there’s nothing like a fork. I agree.

yes, I prefer the steel ones for steak and fish but the small ones for dessert type dishes; Yes, i have a predilection for the simplicity and charm of small things; thank you 🙂

I agree, gotta love the wooden fork. Just looks classic. I just bought a wood comb. Works great. Love that you found inspiration in the everyday.

that’s where I love to find it, Bob; a wooden comb, gotta get one of those; a wooden toothbrush I have; does that count?

A wooden toothbrush! Nice. Definitely counts. And I’ll be in the lookout to get one of those.

I got one after a dental clean, a free gift my dentist said; but my mate said it’d be cheaper to go to the supermarket and buy a bamboo one for a few bucks 🙂

I’ll be looking for either. Seems so much better than plastic.

Stuck with you afterwards, indeed. That dessert sounds divine and the fork the van to paradise. 💜

Inspiration lies between the tongue and the tummy. Need to tap in there more often, John. Sounds yummy! 🙂

I eat my lunch, on workdays with bamboo utensils I have a knife, fork, spoon, and hashi.

now that is impressive; not sure what a hashi is?

So delightful! Beauty and pleasure in the commonplace, or rather, perhaps, commonness is less ‘common’ than we generally tend to think. 😉

perhaps you’re right, Ed; your poem sparked this —

Right?! I feel the same way about wooden bowls. My oatmeal just tastes better in a nice wooden bowl.
